Course Description:
Swim: The swim course is in the St. Lawrence River about 150m south of transition. The swim course is aided by Cornwall
Fire water rescue, kayaks and lifeguards. The
Sprint course covers 1 loop of the 750m Loop. The swim course
will be rectangular in shape. Exit from the swim course is onto a carpeted shore line then a short sharp incline to
the run into transition. The water temperature in the St. Lawrence River allows for the use of wetsuits for all events.
Swim to Bike Hand-Off: There will be a designated
sprint triathlon relay hand-off location in the transition
area. This location must be used for the swimmer to
transfer the timing chip to the cyclist before the cyclist
proceeds to their bicycle.
Bike: The bike course is held on closed roads along the river in Cornwall. The course is slightly rolling but technical.
The bike course is 10km in length. The course heads east out of transition to a turn around near Boundary Road.
Heading west the course enters into the Nav Canada Training Institute for a circular loop of the building. Once back on
Montreal Road, continue to head west to a left turn on Marlborough St. This slight downhill is the fastest part of the course and
winds through Cornwall's Cotton Mill district returning to Montreal Road for the eastward ride back to the transition area.
The Sprint distance competitors will complete 2 loops.
Bike to Run Hand-Off: The cyclist must return their
bike to their designated bike rack location and then return
to the hand-off area to transfer the timing chip to the
runner. The runner then completes the run course to the
finish.
Run: The run is held on the beautiful recreational path along the banks of the St. Lawrence River. The run course is slightly rolling
and 5km in length. The Sprint Relay distance competitors will complete
1 loop of the 5km course.
